Women’s East Coast Open Polo Championship

We are pleased to open registration for the third Annual East Coast Open Women’s Polo Championship (14-20 goal) & East Coast Handicap Women’s Polo Championship (8-12 goal) Sunny Hale Legacy WCT Qualifier tournaments, sanctioned by the United States Polo Association on July 28 – August 2, 2020.

Co-hosted by Westchester Polo Club in Newport, RI and Myopia Polo Club, in South Hamilton MA, the historic tournaments will award $2,500 in prize money to the winner in the Open category.

Our Host Tournament Committee, Tournament Managers and Professional USPA umpires will ensure a first rate competition and memorable experience.  We look forward to seeing returning players and meeting new challengers.

Positions are limited by online registration until 5PM Friday, July 17th, or the team limit is met. Team entry requirements, full schedule and tournament fees can be found on the registration form at: https://forms.gle/7YBo8PiM9PjhaMzX6

East Coast Open Women’s Polo Championship:
•TUE July 28 – Semifinals – (Location: Myopia Polo Club, South Hamilton, MA) if necessary
•THU July 30 – Semifinals – (Location: Myopia Polo Club, South Hamilton, MA)
•SAT August 1 – Consolation & Finals – (Location: Westchester Polo Club, Newport RI)

East Coast Handicap Women’s Polo Championship:
•WED July 29 – Semifinals – (Location: Myopia Polo Club, South Hamilton, MA)
•FRI July 31 – Semifinals – (Location: Myopia Polo Club, South Hamilton, MA) if necessary
•SUN August 2 – Consolation & Finals – (Location: Westchester Polo Club, Newport RI)

Each tournament will feature several top-level teams competing for the prestigious Sunny Hale and Anne Hutchinson silver trophies, and the winners recorded in the United States Polo Association annuls. Hale is remembered as a passionate ambassador for the players and horses of polo, and considered to be one of the all-time greatest female polo players and role model for many women in the sport. Hutchinson, a champion of civil liberty and toleration in the colonial era, became the first woman to found a community in the New World (Portsmouth, Rhode Island – 1638) and is revered in New England as a heroine of freedom.

All tournament participants will automatically qualify to play in the “Sunny Hale Legacy WCT Finals” in Wellington Florida.

Professional umpires, tournament managers, and a host committee of representatives from both polo clubs and the USPA will deploy all available resources to provide a first-rate competitive experience.  All inquiries directed to Agnes Keating, agnes@nptpolo.com for more information on: Paddock turnout or stabling, horse leasing, team assignment for players seeking a team, lodging options, practice opportunities, and more.
