About cindy

I started my polo while a student at the University of California, Davis. I was lucky enough to be at UCD when there was a plethora of good players and had the opportunity to learn and play with them and won four National Women’s Intercollegiate Championship titles. I also played all over California in most of the Northern CA tournaments as well as in the desert, Texas, Hawaii and Argentina. I then left California to be the head polo coach at the Garrison Forest School in Owings Mills, Maryland. I coached and taught polo there for 21 years and continued to play in tournaments on the East Coast as well as traveling to play. In my “prime” I achieved a 3-goal handicap in the arena and 2 goals outdoor. I enjoy playing and taking care of my ponies and play most of my polo in Maryland these days but traveled to play last summer in the inaugural East Coast Women’s Open and Handicap in Newport and Myopia, which was a blast as well as playing in Ireland and in Washington State. I have played in many years of WCT tournaments as well as USPA 0-8 goal tournaments in the area and still play quite a bit of arena polo. I value good teamwork, sportsmanship and positive play and enjoy playing with my friends and former students as well as meeting many new friends through the sport. I also try to improve the sport by being part of the USPA’s Certified Polo Instructor as a Certifier/Instructor as well as being a Certified Umpire. (B in the arena and CCT outdoors). My two kids are now grown and I am retired from Garrison Forest so I am always up for traveling these days (as long as my husband doesn’t mind taking care of the horses at home 🙂 )
