About Meghan

Meghan has had a very short, but very successful polo career over the past year. In November 2017, she played in the United States Women’s Handicap in Houston, Texas, where her team reached the finals, and her grey gelding, Patito Feo, received Best Playing Pony. Her women’s polo handicap has been increased to 3-goals, placing her into an elite group of women players. Additionally, Meghan has had a successful first season in outdoor tournament polo, winning the 2018 USPA Congressional Cup and the 2018 USPA Champions Cup, which she played alongside her husband, polo legend Memo Gracida . Meghan feels incredibly lucky to share her passion for polo and horses with Memo and she credits her success to his incredible coaching and exceptional horses. Meghan and Memo spend their summers in Santa Ynez (near Santa Barbara) at their new polo property, La Herradura Polo & Equestrian Center, and their winters at Empire Polo Club in La Quinta, California. Additionally, they spend April and October in Mexico, where Memo runs a private polo club. Together, they have nearly 100 horses and have the ability to mount any level of player. Memo encourages and supports Meghan to play in as many tournaments as possible, particularly women’s tournaments. In fact, Memo and Meghan hosted the 2018 Santa Ynez Valley WCT Qualifier Sunny Hale Invitational, which was 16-goal women’s handicap and included some top international players. One of Meghan’s goals is to make sure the legends in women’s polo are not forgotten because it was their struggles that now allow women the opportunity to play polo. Sunny Hale, Vicki Armour, Caroline Anier, Sue Sally Hale, Rowena Murray-Gross are just a few with legacies we must not forget…
