I began my love for polo in 1999 at UC Davis where I dabbled a bit and learned with Laura Goddard(now of Mountain View Polo). After college I moved to Arizona for work and continued my love for horses and polo. I was lucky to find my husband and soulmate also on the polo field. Together we have collected quite a few ponies and formed our Lila Polo Team.
Arizona is amazing, but polo here especially for women has been small and uninviting in past years. A few years back I connected with Sunny and started the WCT Juniors Tourneys in Scottsdale(2016 and 2017 tournaments) and we had girls from many states come out! It really inspired me to try to get more young women to the sport. I founded Las Divinas Mujeres ladies polo league in hopes to gain more female riders in our club and state, it’s a work in progress but a fun one to see grow!
I learned to ride at a relatively late age in life- early twenties, I am far from an expert rider or polo player but I definitely connect with those that were not born riding and can help them feel more connected and confident on the horse. For our club I coordinate beginner riders and players with proper riding lessons, appropriate horses and basic hitting lessons. I am also a huge advocate of equine nutrition and welfare, so I share and teach new people not only the polo but the horse care required.
