Newport Polo is pleased to announce the 2nd annual East Coast Open (14-20 goal) & Handicap (8-12 goal) Women’s Polo Championship Sunny Hale Legacy WCT Qualifier tournaments, presented by Dechra to take place
on June 26-30, hosted by Westchester Polo Club in Newport, RI, in conjunction with Myopia Polo Club, MA.
The tournaments are sanctioned by the United States Polo Association (USPA), and have been approved for matching prize money by the USPA, to be awarded to the Open Finalists. Venues will include three of Newport’s best tournament fields, in rotation, and Myopia’s historic main field. A new electronic scoreboard and leaderboard will be on location for the tournament matches. Professional USPA umpires will officiate the matches. A special agenda of social events &entertainment for local experiences will round out the itinerary.
2019 year marks an important moment, as it this is the first-ever women’s polo tournament to award prize money. The United States Polo Association has agreed to match Newport International Polo’s prize money funds, to bring the total prize money to $3,200 of which $2,000 will be awarded to the 1st place team, and $1,200 will be awarded to the 2nd place team.
All tournament participants will automatically qualify to play in the “Sunny Hale Legacy WCT Finals” in Wellington Florida.
